From National Swimmer to Coach
If your swimmer trains hard but is not dropping time, there is usually a reason — and it is rarely effort. It may be stroke mechanics, race skills, water feel, timing, or something breaking down under speed that is hard to spot from the pool deck. That is where I coach best. I help young competitive swimmers and their parents understand what is really holding performance back, then give the swimmer a clearer way to improve
From chasing speed myself to helping swimmers understand it
Danny Yeo is Singapore's #1 youth swimming coach and a 10x SEA Games Gold Medalist. A former cornerstone of Team Singapore's national swim team, Danny has over a decade of elite competitive experience and is NROC-certified. He is the founder of Effiswim — Singapore's leading competitive youth swim academy — and has personally coached 150+ swimmers to measurably improve their technique and race times.
After retiring from competitive swimming, he moved into coaching because he wanted to help swimmers see what they often cannot feel by themselves — body line, timing, coordination, breathing, underwaters, and the small technical leaks that cost time.
His specialty: finding the exact technical flaw holding your child back — body line, kick timing, underwater mechanics, breathing pattern — and fixing it with drills they can feel and repeat.
Today, through private coaching and EffiSwim—Singapore's leading youth performance swim school—I've helped
hundreds of swimmers transform their technique, overcome plateaus, and race with confidence
The real limiters—body line, timing, coordination, underwaters—often go unseen in big squads. My role is to spot the exact issue and give your child drills that translate to faster times.
My Coaching Approach
How I Coach
✓ Progressive Development "Identify the current priority — not ten problems at once."
✓ Technical Clarity "Explain the correction clearly so the swimmer understands why it matters."
✓ Mental Toughness "Calm, confident race execution under pressure"
✓ Parent Partnership "Post-session debriefs so you know what has been done and how we approached it"
✓ Measurable Results "Track progress with specific metrics and milestones"
Why I Coach
Helping swimmers understand the sport more deeply
I want more swimmers in Singapore to understand the sport, not just survive training. When swimmers know what they are trying to change and why it matters, they train with more purpose, handle setbacks better, and race with more confidence.
The goal is simple: clearer swimmers, better movement, and stronger racing over time.
